We recently received the following statement of solidarity from the Derry Tardes Union Council for the workers unfairly dismissed by Echo and Obsidian Piercing Studios in Belfast.
Solidarity Statement for piercing workers from DTUC
Derry Trades Union Council would like to send a statement of solidarity to the piercing workers at Obsidian and Echo piercing studios in Belfast.
These workers who were dismissed for Unionising and winning on Health and Safety issues deserve the full support of DTUC and the wider Trade Union movement.
Full solidarity to the workers and their union Organise! during their ongoing dispute with their employers. Health and Safety in any workplace is the bedrock on which so much of the Trade Union movement is built on. To have workers dismissed from their roles for raising concerns around H&S issues is disgraceful and DTUC will always have the backs of workers involved in any struggle for safe working conditions.
An injury to one is an injury to all!
